The questions people ask before booking — answered the same way we'd answer them in your driveway.
15 questions across 5 categories — no fluff, honest pricing, just facts.
Booking & scheduling
How do I book a diagnostic appointment?
Book online at /booking — pick your vehicle, describe the symptoms, choose a time. Or reach out directly and we'll sort it out. No phone tag required.
Do I need to be home when Trent arrives?
No. Most customers hand over the keys (or a garage code) and get the report digitally when it's done. If you want to watch the live data with me while I work — that's welcome, and honestly the best way to learn what your car is telling you.
How fast can Trent get to me in Canyon Lake or nearby?
Same-day and next-day slots are typical across the Canyon Lake — New Braunfels — San Antonio corridor. Urgent (car won't start, flashing CEL) — call before booking and we'll fit you in.
Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Yes, from your account or by phone. Cancel or move your appointment more than 24 hours out and there's no charge inside the trip-fee radius; inside 24 hours a trip fee may apply since it covers driving time already reserved for you.
Money
How much does a mobile diagnostic cost?
Flat $150 for the full mobile diagnostic (90 min on-site) — quoted before we show up, not an hourly meter. A second-opinion review of another shop's diagnosis is $95. See /pricing for the full menu.
What if you can't find the problem?
If we can't find the root cause, you don't pay the diagnostic fee. Period.
Is the diagnostic fee credited toward repairs if I have them done?
If you have us do the repair, yes — the diagnostic fee comes off. But remember we deliberately don't push repairs: you take the report wherever you want, and the report is worth its price even if a different shop turns the wrenches.
Are there hidden fees or shop supply charges?
No $45 'shop supply' line for an empty air filter we didn't install. You get one flat diagnostic fee, stated up front. Whatever sales tax Texas requires is shown as such — nothing else.
Service area
Where does the mobile diagnostic service reach?
Mobile service within 25 miles of Canyon Lake, TX at a flat $35 trip fee — that covers Canyon Lake, Gruene, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and most of the NE San Antonio side. Beyond that it's $2/mile each way. Trip fee waived on Pre-Purchase Inspections and ADAS calibration. Full town-by-town breakdown at /service-area.
Can you work on my specific vehicle make or model?
Domestic, Asian, European — cars, light trucks, SUVs. If your vehicle needs factory software access we don't have, I'll say so before booking instead of discovering it in your driveway. Heavy diesel and motorcycles: ask first.
The report & what happens next
What do I actually receive after the diagnostic?
A written diagnostic report: codes found, the live-data evidence behind the diagnosis, the root cause, the repair path (with OEM and aftermarket pricing), and what to avoid. See a real one end-to-end at /sample-report before you book.
Can I take the diagnostic report to another shop?
That's the point. The report is yours — portable, evidence-backed, in plain English. A shop can't hand-wave past live-data screenshots and test results. If you want, I'll help you read their repair quote before you sign it (/pricing → second opinion).
Will Trent tell me if the repair can wait?
Yes. Honest triage is part of the service: safety-now, soon, and 'you don't need this yet / at all.' The incentive to say 'fix everything' was deleted when we deleted the repair upsell.
Data & privacy
Who can see my vehicle data and diagnostic report?
You, and whoever you explicitly share a report with via a share link you control. We don't sell data, and dashboard accounts are protected by row-level security — customers only ever see their own vehicles and reports.
Is this diagnostic platform AI-assisted?
The diagnostic work is a human with factory-level tools. The platform around it (booking, reports, secure sharing) is built AI-ready, which is why it's fast, transparent, and priced like software — not like a 40-year-old shop with overhead to hide.
Still have questions?
If we didn't cover it, call or text — we'll diagnose the question for free.
