OBD-II code · Transmission
The trans cannot see how fast the output shaft is turning, so it often locks into limp mode. Sensor, wiring, or connector — usually not the transmission itself.
Limp-mode complaints get transmission failure quotes fast, because testing the circuit takes equipment most shops will not chase.
Typical guess-and-swap cost: $3,000+ (trans service) when sensor + wiring is $150–$400
Oscilloscope on the sensor circuit while spinning, resistance check, connector inspection for corrosion and pushed-out pins. The sensor is often the answer — confirm before quoting, because wiring is close behind.
