Dashboard light guide · Glass Box Diagnostics
Not an emergency — but a safety net may be switched off, or a fault is logged and growing. Book before it turns into a red light.
The same wheel-speed sensors that run your ABS feed stability control. A light flashing while you are sliding is the system WORKING. A light that stays on means the system is OFF — or a bad sensor told the computer something impossible and it disabled the whole chain as a precaution. Rule out the cheap phantom before touching anything.
Swap the ABS module (it-controls-traction-right) — $1,200 — when the fault codes actually pointed at a $15 yaw-sensor calibration or a brake switch.
Typical guess-and-swap cost: $800–$1,400 (module guess) when a calibration routine or $15 switch was the fix
ABS/ESC-specific codes (not just generic OBD), live data on all four wheel speeds while driving, steering-angle center check, brake-switch verification. The system logs exactly which input went unreasonable — reading it IS the diagnosis.
